Geography and patient-ascribed ancestry in anti-M hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn
Study Description
Historically, anti-M antibodies directed against the M antigen in the MNS blood group system were generally described as benign in pregnancy. However, in recent literature there has been a preponderance of severe cases of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) reported in Asian populations especially in China suggesting that there may be a difference in disease severity associated with the patient’s ancestral background and/or geographic location. This a retrospective observational study using de-identified patient data to determine if there is a difference based on self-ascribed ancestry and/or geography in the frequency of severe HDFN associated with anti-M.
