Study Title
WearAble Technology for Collecting Health data in the Transfused (WATCH Transfused)
Study Description
A significant proportion of people living with MDS and thalassemia require regular transfusions to improve oxygen carrying capacity, limit the ill effects of chronic anemia and improve quality of life. Despite that, there is a lack of strong data on how to optimize transfusion practice within these populations. Clinical practice often uses generic hemoglobin thresholds and clinical judgement to determine transfusion dose and frequency. This study will explore the use of smart watches as a potential tool for assessing the effects of transfusion and personalizing blood transfusion.
